Growing up in Tamworth in regional NSW, I've had the opportunity to travel extensively around the world with my work in both business and outdoor education. With qualifications and experience in Business Management, IT Systems, Wilderness First Aid, Mountain Biking, Hiking, Skiing & Water Sports and Public Speaking, there's very rarely a dull moment in life.
Through my variety of experiences working in retail, admin support, education, hospitality and building a software business from scratch, a common theme runs throughout. The world is full of problems that need to be solved. The way we make the world a better place is through solving each problem that we face. Therefore, if you can solve a big problem for a large group of people, then you can make and even bigger difference.
Much of my work in education has been with teenagers in outdoor education, with a focus on challenging them to set their own life goals and push beyond their comfort zones.
I see each challenges as an opportunity to learn something new. From working as an outdoor education teacher, to owning multiple businesses and my involvement in politics and community groups, life is an amazing ride filled with such a huge variety of opportunities and experiences.
Having written, Fight To The End, a fictional novel set at a boys boarding school in rural NSW dealing with the issue of bullying, I recently decided to begin writing my second book, titled Challenge, Experience, Growth, exploring the educational benefit of throwing out that cotton wool parents like to wrap their kids in and letting experience life in all it's challenge and beauty.
At the end of the day, no matter what the activity is, my life revolves around education. If you've stopped learning, you've stopped living, so get to and do something new today!
